I'm working on it on guitar as well, and I always like to hear others opinions about what the heck it could mean. ) in this song have obviously gone through some kind of unspeakable hell....child abuse? And they need to move beyond it and find redemption.Others of you are much better at beautifully interpreting these songs.....please do. ) being abused and locked up en screaming for help but nobody hears them, until they are finally saved..The emotion in the song is just so appropriate for how everyone felt on 9/11.

And then, in the midst of all this despair, Patty does what she's best at - she gives us hope.
i like all the interpretations i've read here, they kinda add new depth to the song for me.
